Experience Managing Donor-Funded Projects

LFG has successfully designed and implemented several donor, local government and community contributions-funded projects in the past three years, working with both international partners and local contributors. Key examples include:

  • Community-led Landslide Resilience Project (2025–2027) – USD 120,000 (approx. ETB 14 million) funded by Lloyd’s Register Foundation via GNDR, focusing on strengthening early warning systems and resilience in Southern Ethiopia.
  • Teacher Quality and School Improvement (TQSI) Research Project (2023–2024) – USD 8,000 (approx. ETB 960,000) funded by Beijing Normal University’s Institute of Educational Economics, focusing on education quality reforms in Ethiopia.
  • Tree planting and Urban Greening Project (2022–2024) – USD 5,000 (approx. ETB 600,000) supported through local contributions and community mobilization, aimed at mitigating urban heat in Hossana City.
  • Rural Road Maintenance Project (2021–2023) – USD 50,000 (approx. ETB 6 million) co-financed through local government and community contributions, designed to improve rural accessibility and livelihoods.
  • Educational Materials Support Project (2021–2023) – USD 15,000 (approx. ETB 1.8 million) mobilised from local CSOs and NGOs, providing school materials for vulnerable children.
  • Policy Engagement and Advocacy for DRR (2021–2025) – USD 2,000 (approx. ETB 240,000) raised from CSO coalitions, supporting multi-stakeholder dialogue and municipal-level policy influence.

To ensure effectiveness, LFG applies robust project management and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) systems. These include the Logical Framework Approach (LFA) and Results-Based Management (RBM) for planning and monitoring; participatory monitoring tools for community engagement; and digital reporting templates to track progress against indicators. We also conduct quarterly review meetings, participatory evaluations, and independent external audits. This system enables LFG to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with measurable outcomes.
